Ingredients
Instructions
1. Open the package of firm organic tofu and drain the water. Wrap the tofu in a cotton cloth or paper towel to dry it out.
2. Cut the tofu block into 8 pieces.
3. Heat a pan over medium-high heat. Add about 3 tablespoons of non-GMO vegetable oil and swirl to coat the pan.
4. Place the dried tofu pieces in the hot pan. Cook for 5 minutes until the bottom is crunchy, then flip them over and cook for another 4-5 minutes.
5. While the tofu is cooking, prepare the seasoning sauce. In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 teaspoons of gochugaru (hot pepper flakes), 1 minced clove of garlic, and about 2 tablespoons of finely chopped onion.
6. Add half a teaspoon of sugar and a generous amount of sesame oil to the sauce mixture. Add half of the chopped green onion.
7. Mix the seasoning sauce well.
8. Once both sides of the tofu are crunchy, turn off the heat.
9. Pour the seasoning sauce generously over the pan-fried tofu.
10. Garnish with the remaining green onion and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
11. Serve the pan-fried tofu with seasoning sauce as a side dish, often with rice, soup, stew, or other Korean side dishes.
