Salted Caramel Apple Bars

3.75cups all-purpose flour, 2cups dark brown sugar, 1.5teaspoons table salt, 1.5teaspoons baking powder, 0.75teaspoon baking soda, 3sticks melted butter, 3pounds Granny Smith apples, 1tablespoon lemon zest, 2tablespoons lemon juice, 1teaspoon ground cinnamon, 0.5cup caramel, 1pinch flaky sea salt
Instructions
1. In a bowl, mix all-purpose flour, dark brown sugar, table salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
2. Add melted butter and stir until a wet-sand crumb texture forms. Reserve 2 cups of the crumb mixture for the topping.
3. Press the remaining crumb mixture firmly and evenly into a foil-lined baking pan.
4. Bake the crust in a 350 degree F oven until pale golden brown, about 15 to 20 minutes. Let cool.
5. Peel and slice Granny Smith apples into quarter-inch slices.
6. In a bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon zest, lemon juice, dark brown sugar, ground cinnamon, table salt, and caramel.
7. Arrange the apple mixture evenly over the cooled crust.
8. Scatter the reserved crumb topping over the apples in varied chunk sizes.
9. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 1 hour until nicely browned on top.
10. Cool for 4 hours, lift out using the foil sling, slice into bars, and drizzle with additional caramel and flaky sea salt.
