Dad's Mac and Cheese
Ingredients: dried pasta shells, whole milk, Kraft Deli Deluxe American Cheese, butter, black pepper · 100 min cook time · 550kcal · ~₩13,950
Ingredients
1pound dried pasta shells, 1quart whole milk, 1pound Kraft Deli Deluxe American Cheese, 0.5stick butter, 1pinch black pepper, 1pinch salt
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and put a pot of water on to boil for the pasta.
2. In another large pan, warm 1 quart of whole milk on medium heat.
3. Tear a whole 16-ounce package of Kraft Deli Deluxe American cheese into pieces and add it to the warm milk. Add between half and a whole stick of butter and some black pepper. Stir until everything is melted and combined into a smooth sauce.
4. Salt the boiling pasta water and par-boil the pasta shells for five minutes. Do not overcook, or they will be mushy after baking.
5. Oil or spray a baking dish that holds at least 2.5 quarts.
6. Drain the pasta and pour it into the prepared baking dish. Pour the cheese sauce over the pasta and stir to combine. The mixture should look soupy at this stage; otherwise, it will be dry after baking.
7. Cover the baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes.
8. After 45 minutes, remove the cover and bake for another half-hour or until the top layer of cheese is brown.
9. Let the mac and cheese rest for about half an hour before serving to prevent the sauce from running out.
