Ingredients
1stick cinnamon, to taste cumin, to taste coriander, to taste black peppercorn, to taste cardamom, to taste cloves, to taste turmeric, 3tablespoons olive oil, to taste garlic, 1to taste green bell pepper, 1to taste red onion, to taste ground beef, 1teaspoon kosher salt, 3tablespoons xawaash, 1to taste tomato paste, 1can diced tomatoes, to taste water, to taste spaghetti, to taste cilantro, 1to taste banana
Instructions
1. Toast cinnamon stick, cumin, coriander, black peppercorn, cardamom, cloves, and turmeric in a pan over medium heat for about 2 minutes until fragrant without burning.
2. Grind the toasted spices in a spice grinder and sift to get a fine xawaash powder.
3. Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat, then add chopped garlic, green bell pepper, and red onion. Sauté until the vegetables soften, about 8 minutes.
4. Add ground beef, kosher salt, and 3 tablespoons of xawaash to the pot. Break up the beef and let it brown on all sides for about 15 minutes.
5. Add tomato paste, canned diced tomatoes, and a little water. Bring to a boil, then cover and let it simmer for about 30 minutes.
6. Serve the suugo over cooked spaghetti, garnish with chopped cilantro, and serve with a banana on the side.
