Ingredients: vegetable oil, black pepper, cayenne, chipotle, ketchup · 45 min cook time · 340kcal · $16.50
Ingredients
1tbsp vegetable oil, 1tsp black pepper, 1tsp cayenne, 1tsp chipotle, 1tbsp ketchup, 1tbsp honey, 2tbsp soy sauce, 1bottle root beer, 1lb flank steak
Instructions
1. Add a little bit of vegetable oil to a mixing bowl followed by freshly ground black pepper, cayenne, chipotle, ketchup, honey, soy sauce, and a bottle of root beer. Whisk thoroughly to combine.
2. Cut the flank steak lengthwise down the middle, then slice it across the grain into half-inch pieces.
3. Transfer the sliced beef into the root beer marinade and mix thoroughly. Cover in plastic and marinate in the fridge for anywhere between 4 hours and overnight.
4. Pull the beef from the fridge and skewer each piece by folding it in half so the skewer goes through twice.
5. Pour excess marinade into a saucepan over medium heat and reduce down to a glaze.
6. Place skewers over glowing red charcoal and grill using hot direct heat for about 3 or 4 minutes per side.
7. Remove the skewers from the grill, brush over the reduced glaze, and finish with a little bit of toasted sesame seed.
