Chocolate Strawberry Cake

0.5cup cocoa powder, 1cup boiling hot water, 3cups all-purpose flour, 2.5cups granulated sugar, 1teaspoon salt, 2.5teaspoons baking soda, 1.5teaspoons baking powder, 1cup buttermilk, 1cup veggie oil, 3items eggs, 1tablespoon vanilla extract, 2pounds strawberries, 1.5cups unsalted butter, 7cups powdered sugar, 3.5ounces chocolate
Instructions
1. Bloom the cocoa powder by sifting it into a medium bowl and adding boiling hot water, then whisk until smooth and set aside for about 10 minutes.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, salt, baking soda, and baking powder.
3. Add buttermilk, veggie oil, room temperature eggs, and vanilla extract to the cooled cocoa mixture and whisk until smooth.
4. Pour the chocolate mixture into the dry ingredients and whisk until fully incorporated and smooth.
5. Divide the batter into three prepared 9-inch pans and bake at 350 degrees F for about 30 minutes.
6. Chop strawberries for the buttercream and set aside beautiful uniform strawberries to top the cake later.
7. Beat room temperature unsalted butter with a pinch of salt on high for 5 minutes until light and fluffy.
8. With the mixer running on low, gradually add powdered sugar alternating with chopped strawberries.
9. Assemble the chilled cake layers with strawberry buttercream in between and coat the outside.
10. Finely chop chocolate and melt it over a double boiler for the ganache.
11. Test the ganache consistency with a vertical surface test, then pour over the cake and arrange the strawberries on top.
