1.75cups Butter, 3apples Apples, 1cup Brown sugar, 0.5cup Cream, 1tsp Salt, 1tbsp Vanilla extract, 3cups All-purpose flour, 1.5cups Granulated sugar, 1tsp Baking soda, 2tsp Ground cinnamon, 0.5tsp Allspice, 0.5tsp Ground ginger, 0.5tsp Nutmeg, 1pinch Ground cloves, 0.25cup Yogurt, 0.25cup Vegetable oil, 0.5cup Coconut oil, 3large Eggs, 2lbs Confectioner's sugar
Instructions
1. Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until milk solids caramelize, then let cool.
2. Peel, core, and chop the apples into half-inch pieces.
3. Make the homemade caramel by combining brown sugar, cream, salt, butter, and vanilla extract in a pot and cooking until thickened.
4. Whisk together the dry ingredients including flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and fall spices.
5. Mix the wet ingredients including yogurt, vegetable oil, coconut oil, vanilla, and eggs in a separate bowl.
6. Combine wet and dry mixtures, then fold in the chopped apples.
7. Divide the batter evenly into prepared cake pans and bake at 350°F.
8. Prepare the brown butter buttercream frosting and assemble the cake layers with frosting and caramel drizzle.
