Martha Stewart's Oven Roasted Ribs

Ingredients
1rack st louis style ribs, 1tbsp paprika, 2tbsp brown sugar, 1tsp kosher salt, 1tsp cayenne pepper, 1tbsp cocoa powder, 1tsp cumin, 1tbsp oil, 1medium onions, 3cloves garlic, 2tbsp tomato paste, 1tsp black pepper, 0.5cup apple sauce, 2tbsp apple cider vinegar, 0.5cup apple juice, 2cups crushed tomatoes
Instructions
1. Make the rub by mixing paprika, brown sugar, kosher salt, cayenne pepper, cocoa powder, and cumin.
2. Apply the rub thoroughly to both sides of the ribs, cover, and marinate in the fridge for two hours.
3. Saute onions and garlic in oil over medium-low heat until translucent, then add cumin and cayenne to bloom for a minute.
4. Add tomato paste, black pepper, kosher salt, brown sugar, apple sauce, apple cider vinegar, apple juice, and crushed tomatoes.
5. Bring sauce to a boil, drop to a low simmer, partially cover, and simmer for two hours, then blend until smooth.
6. Bake the marinated ribs in the oven at 350 degrees for one and a half to two hours until falling off the bone.
7. Slather both sides of the baked ribs with the homemade barbecue sauce and broil in the oven at 425 degrees for 15 minutes.
