Gingery Cabbage Rolls
Ingredients: Savoy cabbage, Ground pork, Raw rice, Chicken broth, Ginger · 90 min cook time · 450kcal · $12.65
Ingredients
1head Savoy cabbage, 500g Ground pork, 1cup Raw rice, 2cups Chicken broth, 30g Ginger, 50g Scallions, 2tbsp Soy sauce, 1tbsp Sesame oil
Instructions
1. Cut the bottom of the savoy cabbage and separate 12 of the largest leaves. It's okay if they tear a little.
2. Blanch the cabbage leaves in hot water until tender, just a quick dip. You can blanch them in batches or all at once if you're comfortable.
3. Remove the blanched leaves and place them in a colander with a bowl underneath to drain and cool. Alternatively, you can place them on a towel-lined plate.
4. Prepare the filling by mixing ground pork, raw rice, ginger, scallions, and soy sauce. Ensure the pork is a mix of lean and fatty for best flavor.
5. Take about a 1/4 cup of filling and place it on a cabbage leaf. Roll it up like a burrito, tucking in the sides, and place it seam-side down in a tall-sided skillet or Dutch oven.
6. Add 2 cups of chicken broth to the skillet with the cabbage rolls. Heat on the stove over medium-high heat until it comes to a boil.
7. Transfer the skillet to a preheated oven and bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 45 minutes.
8. Carefully remove the hot cabbage rolls from the oven. Drizzle with sesame oil before serving.
