Strawberry Cobbler
Ingredients: fresh strawberries, hulled and halved, granulated sugar, unsalted butter, all-purpose flour, granulated sugar · 70 min cook time · $9.36
Ingredients
900grams fresh strawberries, hulled and halved, 67grams granulated sugar, 126grams unsalted butter, 270grams all-purpose flour, 133grams granulated sugar, 2.5tsp baking powder, 0.5tsp salt, 300mL whole milk, 2tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Hull and halve 2 lbs (900 grams) of fresh strawberries.
3. Add 1/3 cup (67 grams) of granulated sugar to the strawberries and toss to coat. Set aside to macerate.
4. Place 9 tbsp (126 grams) of unsalted butter in a baking dish and place it in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes to melt the butter and warm the dish.
5. In a large bowl, combine 2 & 1/4 cups (270 grams) of all-purpose flour, 2/3 cup (133 grams) of granulated sugar, 2 & 1/2 tsp of baking powder, and 1/2 tsp of salt. Whisk well.
6. Pour in 1 & 1/4 cups (300 mL) of whole milk and 2 tsp of vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir just until combined, being careful not to overmix.
7. Carefully remove the hot baking dish with the melted butter from the oven. Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter in the dish.
8. Spoon the macerated strawberries evenly over the batter, using a slotted spoon to leave behind excess liquid.
9. Bake in the preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 55 to 60 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and puffed, and the fruit juices are bubbling.
10. Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
