Ingredients: Ground Beef (relatively lean), Diced Onion, Diced Green Bell Pepper, Minced Garlic, Brown Sugar · 60 min cook time · 350kcal · $22.13
Ingredients
2pounds Ground Beef (relatively lean), 1medium Diced Onion, 1medium Diced Green Bell Pepper, 2tablespoons Minced Garlic, 2tablespoons Brown Sugar, 1teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper, 0.5teaspoon Cayenne Pepper, 1teaspoon Kosher Salt, 3tablespoons All-Purpose Flour, 1cup Ketchup, 1tablespoon Dijon Mustard, 1tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce, 2cups Chicken Broth, 1cup Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese, 1loaf Baguette
Instructions
1. Add ground beef, diced onion, diced green bell pepper, minced garlic, brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne pepper, kosher salt, and all-purpose flour to a cold pot.
2. Place the pot over medium-high heat and break up and stir the meat until most of the moisture has evaporated, and the mixture is browned and resembles a paste. This will take at least 15 minutes.
3. Add ketchup, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce to the meat mixture. Pour in chicken broth or water.
4. Stir the mixture, bring it to a simmer, and reduce the heat to medium. Cook, stirring occasionally, for approximately 45 minutes, or until the dip reaches your desired thickness and the meat is very tender.
5. Taste the dip, primarily for salt, and adjust seasoning as needed. If serving with sliced baguette, taste it on a piece of bread.
6. Transfer the sloppy dip mixture into an oven-safe saucepan or baking dish. Apply half of the shredded cheese and poke it into the dip with a fork.
7. Top with the remaining half of the shredded cheese. Broil in a hot oven for about 5 minutes, or until the cheese is hot, bubbling, and browned.
8. Serve the sloppy dip hot with sliced baguette or other dippers. Enjoy!
